The first child setup takes about 5 minutes. The student password setup path begins right after the child profile is created.

Quick Start Checklist

Step 1: Create Your Parent Account

What You Need:
Your email address, a secure password, your mobile number, and about 2 minutes of your time.

1.1 Go to the Sign-Up Page

Open the sign-up page directly at https://11plus.alphatest.co.uk/signup (or click "Sign up" from the login page) and you'll see the account creation form.

1.2 Fill in Your Information

Complete the form with:

1.3 Optional: Enter a Referral Code

If you have a referral code from another parent, enter it in the "Referral Code" field and click "Validate". A validated referral code gives you a discount when you upgrade to a paid plan.

1.4 Accept Consent

You must tick two checkboxes before proceeding:

Once you've filled in all the fields and accepted the consents, click the "Create Parent Account" button. The system will validate your email, check for duplicate accounts, and then proceed to email verification.

Important: Make sure you use a valid email address you have access to. You will receive a 6-digit verification code at this email in the next step. You also need access to verify your account and receive important notifications about your child's progress.

Step 2: Verify Your Email (OTP)

Important: This step is required - don't skip it! Your account won't be fully active until you verify your email with the 6-digit code.

After creating your account, the same page transforms into an email verification screen. You do not need to navigate anywhere else.

If you need to change your signup details, click "Back to signup" to return to the registration form.

Email Verified! Once the code is accepted, you are automatically redirected to the plan selection page. No separate login is needed.
Session Recovery: If you accidentally close your browser during OTP verification, your progress is saved. Simply reopen the sign-up page and you'll be taken back to the OTP screen automatically (within 30 minutes).

Email Verified! After verifying your email, you are automatically taken to the plan selection page. Choose the right plan for your child's 11+ preparation.

3.2 Choose Your Billing Cycle

Three billing options:

3.3 Apply a Discount or Referral Code

If you have a discount or referral code, enter it in the designated field and click "Apply Code". Valid codes will show the discount applied to all plan prices. You can remove or change the code before proceeding.

3.4 Select Your Plan

Click "Choose This Plan" on the plan card you want. You will be redirected to the secure checkout page to complete your payment.

Existing Parents: If you already have children on the platform and are adding another child, the page heading changes to "Select the Best Plan for your Child" to reflect the additional child flow.

Step 4: Complete Payment

You'll be redirected to our secure checkout page.

Click the pay button to process your payment securely.

4.4 Payment Confirmation

After successful payment, you are redirected back to the platform. The redirect URL confirms your payment was successful and includes your selected plan tier.

What happens after successful payment:
You are automatically redirected to the Child Profile Creation page. Your payment is confirmed, and you can now create your child's account.
Payment Cancelled? If you cancel the payment at the checkout page, you'll be redirected back to the plan selection page with a cancellation notice. You can try again or choose a different plan.

Step 5: Create Your Child's Profile

Payment Successful! After payment, you're taken to the child profile form. This is where you set up your child's learning account.

5.1 Fill in Your Child's Details

Once all required fields are filled, click the button to create your child's account. The system will verify the payment, create the child account, and send the password setup email.

Existing Parents: If you already have children on the platform, the page adjusts to say "Ready to Add Another Child!" and references your additional child throughout.

Step 6: Child Account Created

Congratulations! Your child's account has been created successfully. A success dialog appears with all the information you need.

6.3 Action Required

Parent Action Required:
Please ask your child to open their email account and check for the password setup email to complete the registration. This is covered in detail in Step 10.

The dialog provides a clear numbered list:

  1. Check the email inbox for your child's email address
  2. Click the password setup link in the email
  3. Create a secure password for the account
  4. Start learning immediately after setting up the password
  5. You can manage the account from your parent dashboard

6.5 Go to Parent Dashboard

Click the "Go to Parent Dashboard" button to proceed to your dashboard. From there you can monitor your child's progress and manage their account.

If the email fails to send: In rare cases where the password setup email cannot be delivered, the dialog will show an "Action Required" notice asking you to contact support for assistance.

Step 7: Welcome to Parent Dashboard

Congratulations! You're now logged in to your Parent Dashboard. This is your command centre for managing your child's education.

If you have multiple children, the dashboard shows a family overview grid (see the “Family Overview – Quick Summary” section in the screenshot above):

Adding More Children: If you have more than one child, click the "Add Child" button on your dashboard. You'll go through the plan selection and payment flow again, but this time the pages will recognise you as an existing parent and adjust the messaging accordingly.

Step 8: Monitoring Your Child's Progress

Navigate to "Child Progress" in the left sidebar to access detailed progress monitoring for each child.

Step 9: Family Overview

Your Parent Dashboard home page provides an at-a-glance view of all your children's progress, subscription status, and exam readiness. The visual layout is the dashboard screenshot shown at the start of Step 7 above.

Step 10: Child Email Verification / Password Setup

Important: After creating your child's account (Step 6), your child received a password setup email. They need to set their password before they can log in and start learning.

Check Your Child's Email:
Your child will receive an email from the platform with a "Reset Your Password" link. This is normal - it is how the system sends password setup links for new accounts.

Step-by-step email verification process:

  1. Go to your child's email account - Log into the email address you provided for your child during sign-up
  2. Check the Spam folder - The reset email might be in spam initially

  1. Look for the "Reset Your Password" email - From the platform sender
  1. Click "Looks safe" - This tells Gmail the email is legitimate
  1. Click the "Reset Password" link - Open the email and click "Reset Password"
  2. Gmail may show a security warning - Click "Open Anyway" to proceed
  1. Set up the new password - Your child can now create their password
Account Ready! Your child can now log in with their email address and the password they just created. They're all set to start learning!
Troubleshooting: If the email doesn't arrive within 10 minutes, check spam, then try requesting a new password reset from the login page. Contact support@alphatest.co.uk if issues persist.

Step 11: Parent Dashboard Features

This section covers the full range of features available in your Parent Dashboard beyond progress monitoring.

11.1 Subscription Management

Important: You must be logged in as a Parent (not your child's account) to manage subscriptions!

11.2 Referral Program

Share the platform with other parents and earn discounts through our referral programme.

How It Works

  • A unique referral link is generated for your account
  • Share the link with friends and family
  • When they sign up using your link, both you and the new parent receive a discount
  • Track your successful referrals from the dashboard

Referral Widget

The referral widget is available on your Parent Dashboard. You can copy your referral link, share it via email or messaging apps, and track how many successful referrals you've made.

Step 12: Your Child's Learning Experience

Great News! After setting up their password (Step 10), your child can log in independently with their own email and password. They get their own Student Dashboard separate from yours.

On mobile devices: The sidebar becomes a bottom sheet menu that can be opened with a tap, providing access to all the same items.

Parent Tip: Your child can study completely independently while you monitor everything from your Parent Dashboard. They get their own login but you maintain full oversight!

13.1 Photo Consent Management

Per-child photo consent toggle (EU-compliant). You can enable or disable photo consent for each child individually. All consent changes are logged with an audit trail.

Step 14: Gamification System

Our platform includes a comprehensive gamification system designed to keep your child motivated and engaged. This section covers XP, levels, badges, streaks, daily challenges, mini-games, and leaderboards.

14.1 XP (Experience Points) System

Your child earns XP for every correct answer they give during practice sessions. The amount of XP depends on question difficulty:

XP accumulates over time and determines your child's level progression. There is no penalty for incorrect answers - the focus is on rewarding effort and correct responses.

As your child earns XP, they progress through 10 levels. Each level has a unique title. Later levels require significantly more XP, making them more prestigious.

Level Journey Roadmap: Your child can see their current level and the full roadmap of upcoming levels on their dashboard, giving them a visual goal to work towards.

Progression Example: To reach Level 2 (Starter), your child needs 300 XP total. At 10 XP per easy question, that's 30 correct easy answers, or fewer at higher difficulties. Level 10 (Titan) at 100,000 XP represents a significant long-term achievement.

14.3 Badges

Your child can earn 12 study streak badges by maintaining consecutive days of practice. Each badge comes with a one-time XP bonus.

  • Your child's streak increases each day they complete at least one practice session
  • Streak milestones are celebrated at 3, 5, 7, 14, 30, 60, and 100 days with special animations and messages

Streak Hearts (Freeze Protection)

Streak Hearts protect your child's streak if they miss a day:

How Hearts Work: Think of hearts like "freeze" protection in fitness apps. If your child has earned hearts and accidentally misses a day, one heart is automatically consumed to keep the streak alive. This prevents discouragement from occasional missed days while still rewarding consistent practice.

14.5 Daily Challenges

A new challenge is assigned to your child every day, using a 30-template rotation system. The same user gets a different challenge each day for variety.

  • Streak Maintain - Maintain daily study streak
  • Subject Specific - Complete questions in a particular subject

  • Each challenge has a target value and a difficulty level (easy, medium, hard)
  • Progress is tracked automatically as your child practises
  • Bonus XP is awarded upon completion
  • The challenge resets each day with a new goal

Can My Child Skip Games? Yes! Mini-games are optional. Your child can choose to play or skip each one. Skipped games do not affect progress or the practice session.

14.7 Global Leaderboard

The leaderboard shows rank, name, level, and XP for each student. Your child's own rank is highlighted so they can easily see their position.

14.8 Activity Graph

Your child's Student Dashboard features a GitHub-style contribution heatmap that shows 365 days of XP activity.

What It Shows

  • Each square represents a day
  • Colour intensity indicates how much XP was earned that day (lighter = less, darker = more)
  • Total XP - Cumulative XP earned
  • Active Days - Number of days with at least one practice session
  • Study Streak - Current consecutive days of practice
  • Current Level - Based on total XP
  • Busiest Day - The day with the highest XP earned

14.9 Gamification Onboarding

When your child first logs in, they are guided through a 5-step walkthrough explaining the gamification system:

  1. XP Earning - How to earn XP by answering questions correctly
  2. 10 Levels Journey - The progression from Rookie to Titan
  3. Badge Collection - How streaks unlock badges with XP bonuses
  4. Study Streaks & Hearts - Building daily habits and protecting streaks
  5. Leaderboard Competition - Competing with peers on the global leaderboard

Your child can choose "Don't show this again" to skip the onboarding in future sessions. It can also be re-accessed from the help section if needed.

Q: Can my child access their account without me?
A: Yes! Each child gets their own login credentials. After you create their account (Steps 4-6) and they set their password (Step 10), they can log in and study independently while you monitor progress from your Parent Dashboard.
Q: What if I forget my password?
A: Click "Forgot Password" on the login page. You'll receive a reset link via email within minutes. Follow the link to create a new password.
Q: Can I add multiple children?
A: Absolutely! Each child needs their own subscription, but you manage them all from one parent dashboard. You can even have different subscription levels for different children (e.g., Genius for one, Achiever for another). Use the "Add Child" button on your dashboard to add more children.
Q: What devices work with the platform?
A: The platform works on all modern devices: desktop computers (Windows, Mac, Linux), tablets (iPad, Android), and smartphones (iPhone, Android). Simply open a modern web browser (Chrome, Safari, Firefox, Edge) and log in.
Q: Is the content aligned with actual 11+ exams?
A: Yes! Our content is created by education experts and covers all major exam boards including GL Assessment, CEM, and independent school entrance exams. Questions span English, Maths, Verbal Reasoning, and Non-Verbal Reasoning.
Q: Can I change subscription plans?
A: Yes! You can upgrade or downgrade anytime from your Subscription page (Step 11). Changes take effect at your next billing cycle. Log in as a parent (not your child's account) to make changes.
Q: What if my payment fails?

Q: How does the gamification system help my child?
A: The gamification system (XP, levels, badges, streaks, leaderboards) is designed to make learning engaging and motivating. It encourages daily practice through streak tracking, rewards consistency with badges and XP bonuses, and provides a sense of progression through 10 levels. The daily challenges and mini-games keep study sessions fresh and fun.
Q: What is the AI Tutor and how does it work?
A: The AI Tutor is a 24/7 chat-based tutoring assistant available exclusively on the Genius plan. It can explain concepts, answer questions, and provide guidance across all 11+ subjects. The AI Practice feature(Only in Genius plans) generates questions that adapt to your child's ability level.
Q: What's the difference between Basic and Detailed monitoring?
A: Basic monitoring shows the Overview and Peer Comparison tabs. Detailed monitoring (default) shows all tabs including Mind Map, detailed analytics, and AI insights. You can change this setting in Account & Settings (Step 13) at any time.
Q: How do streak hearts work?
A: Your child earns 1 streak heart for every 5 consecutive practice days, up to a maximum of 5 hearts. If they miss a day and have at least 1 heart, the streak is automatically preserved. This helps prevent discouragement from occasional missed days.
Q: Do you offer family discounts?
A: Contact admin (support@alphatest.co.uk) for bulk signup or refer others to get custom discounts and offers.
Q: Is my child's data safe?
A: Absolutely. All data is encrypted in transit and at rest. We are fully GDPR compliant with EU-standard data protection. We never share personal data with third parties. You can request data deletion at any time by contacting support. Photo consent is managed separately per child with a full audit trail.
Q: How does email verification work during sign-up?
A: After creating your parent account, a 6-digit verification code (OTP) is sent to your email. Enter this code on the verification screen to confirm your email. The code auto-verifies when you type the 6th digit. If you close your browser during this step, your progress is saved for 30 minutes - just reopen the sign-up page and you'll be taken back to the OTP screen.
Q: What happens if I cancel during checkout?
A: If you cancel the payment at the checkout page, you'll be redirected back to the plan selection page with a cancellation notice. You can try again or choose a different plan at any time. No charges are made until you complete the payment.
